The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed an appeal to block the sale of bankrupt crypto lender Voyager Digital’s assets to Binance.US, just one day after a judge authorized the sale. The appeal was filed by the U.S. Trustee’s Office, a branch of the department responsible for overseeing the administration of bankruptcy cases and private trustees. The sale, estimated to be worth $1.3 billion, was approved earlier this month by a U.S. bankruptcy judge despite objections from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). If the sale is scrapped, Voyager may choose to liquidate, but this would result in smaller returns to its creditors.
