Brazilian neobank, Nubank, has hired David Marcus, the former crypto chief at Meta (formerly Facebook) as a member of its board of directors, while experiencing the departure of Bruno Magrani, its Senior Director and Global Head of Public Policy. Nubank made headlines last year for its crypto-friendly stance and has since released its own crypto asset, Nucoin. With Marcus’s appointment as a board member, Nubank aims to expand its multi-country, multi-product, and multi-segment strategy. Marcus, known for heading the Libra/Diem project at Meta and launching Lightspark, a firm for Bitcoin Lightning Network solutions, will bring unique perspectives on growing consumer and financial products to a global scale. Despite many unknowns in the global crypto market, the emergence of innovative players like Nubank could play an increasingly important role in Brazil’s crypto industry in the years to come.
