Amazon is set to launch its NFT and Web3 initiative, with around 15 collections to be available from March 24 under the “Amazon Digital Marketplace” tab. Initially, the tab will only be accessible to US residents, but will gradually be available worldwide. Amazon’s Web3 initiative is not open-source, and NFTs can only be purchased through an Amazon account and credit card, as Amazon’s blockchain is incompatible with the Ethereum virtual machine. Despite recent crypto market turmoil, mainstream companies continue to invest in Web3, including AWS’s cooperation with Avala Labs and Sony’s patent filing for digital asset tracking.
